Every year, the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) provides numerous scholarships to students committed to furthering their education. These scholarships are available for students studying a range of subjects, including history, economics, law, political science, medicine, nursing, occupational and physical therapy, primary and secondary education, chemistry, math, science, and English.

The following eligibility requirements apply to all scholarship applicants:

  • Applicants must be U.S. citizens.
  • Applicants must be attending or planning to attend an accredited U.S. college or university.
  • All multi-year scholarships, which can be renewed for up to four years, must be for consecutive years of study.
  • Awards are determined based on academic achievement, dedication to the chosen field of study, financial need, or other specific scholarship restrictions.
  • Awards are deposited directly with the recipient’s college or university, and any unused funds must be returned to the DAR.
  • Applicants can only receive one national scholarship from the DAR Scholarship Committee.

The DAR Scholarship Committee Utilizes an Online Application System

The DAR is excited to announce that students applying for scholarships managed by the DAR Scholarship Committee will now submit their applications via the online application portal. Applications sent via email or post will no longer be accepted, with the exception of those for the Margaret Howard Hamilton Scholarship.

The scholarship application portal is currently closed. The application process is conducted entirely online through the DAR Academic Works Portal. The portal will be open for the upcoming year from November 1 through January 31, closing at 11:59 pm (Hawaii Time).
