The Missouri Broadcasters Association offers scholarships to Missouri students pursuing degrees in broadcast/digital media at either public or private institutions. High school seniors who have not yet started college may also apply, but they must provide evidence of enrollment before the scholarship money is disbursed. Applications must be submitted by January 15.

Eligibility Criteria

Every Applicant:

  1. Must be a resident of Missouri.
  2. Must be currently enrolled in a Missouri college, university, or accredited technical/trade school, or be a high school senior who has been accepted into a Missouri higher education institution.
  3. Must be enrolled or intending to enroll in a broadcast/digital media or related program, which offers skills and knowledge relevant to a broadcast/digital media operation.
  4. Must be a full-time student for each semester the scholarship is granted. Full-time status is defined as enrollment in a minimum of 12 credit hours.
  5. Must maintain a GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or its equivalent, for each semester of the scholarship.

Application Guidelines

Include the Following:

  1. A fully filled out application.
  2. Two recommendation letters.
  3. An essay not exceeding three pages. Refer to the application for the topics to be covered.
  4. A transcript indicating your current GPA. The transcript should include the most recently completed semester/quarter.
  5. All materials must be submitted by the deadline. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.

Evaluation Process

The MBA selection committee will consider the following during its review process:

  1. The applicant's academic program and career objectives.
  2. Clarity of thought and expression.
  3. Recommendation letters.
  4. Participation in community and extracurricular activities.
  5. Financial need. (While not the main factor, applicants should provide details about how their education is financed.)

Financial Details

Several awards may be given each year, and the scholarship amount may vary. This scholarship can be renewed, provided the recipient continues to meet the eligibility criteria. Recipients must reapply each academic year to renew their scholarship.
