Texas Beginning Teacher Scholarship

The First-Year Teacher Scholarship aims to provide financial support to the awardee for the procurement of classroom materials.
Interested individuals can access the application form on the TRTF website starting August 15, 2025. It is crucial to submit the completed application by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, January 09, 2026, as late submissions will not be entertained.
The scholarship awardees will be announced on Friday, February 27, 2026. The winners will receive an email notification, and their names will be published on the TRTF website and Facebook page.
Since its inception in 2008, TRTF has granted over $225,000 in scholarships.
Procedure for Applying to the First-Year Teacher Scholarship:
The First-Year Teacher Scholarship is designed to provide financial aid to the awardee for the acquisition of classroom resources. The Texas Retired Teachers Foundation (TRTF) will grant 35 scholarships, each worth $1,000, for the 2024-2025 academic year to first-year public-school educators. The application form can be downloaded from the TRTF website at www.trtf.org starting September 15, 2023. It is mandatory to submit the fully completed application by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, January 26, 2024. Late submissions will not be accepted.
Eligibility Criteria for Scholarship Applicants:
An applicant must:
- be a current employee of a Texas public school district and actively teaching in the classroom.
- ensure the application is submitted by 5:00 p.m. on January 9, 2026.
- Procedure to Apply for a TRTF Beginning Teacher Scholarship:
- Access the application at www.trtf.org.
- Fill out and submit the application via email (sarah@trta.org) or U.S. Mail. Please opt for only one mode of submission.
- Ensure the application and necessary documents are received no later than 5:00 p.m. on or before January 26, 2024.
Review of Scholarship Applications:
The TRTF First-Year Teacher Scholarship Committee will conduct a competitive review of all applications.
