Princeton Prize in Race Relations
Scholarship Sponsored by Princeton University
The Princeton Prize in Race Relations is designed to acknowledge and honor high school students who have shown leadership in fostering racial equality or enhancing racial comprehension in their educational institutions and local communities through their actions and service.
Those who are awarded the Prize receive a monetary reward of $2,500 and a fully-funded trip to a Symposium on Race at Princeton University for a weekend. Here, they get the opportunity to interact and connect with other Prize winners from different parts of the country.
Prize winners are also celebrated at events in their local areas by Princeton University alumni.
The PPRR functions through 25 Regional Committees and also has an At-Large Regional Committee to cater to regions where we currently do not have a physical presence. We are a volunteer-driven organization run by alumni, with over 400 Princetonians committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive society.
Evaluation Criteria
Applications are assessed based on three specific criteria. The efforts you have made towards racial equality and understanding are considered more significant than your writing skills.
- The importance of your activity and its contribution to racial equality, comprehension, and mutual respect among members of your school or community.
- Your involvement in the activity.
- The extent and influence of your activity on your school or community.

Application Process
The application process consists of two parts - one for the applicant and one for the sponsor. The sponsor should be a teacher, advisor, community or religious leader, or any other responsible adult who is not related to you and who has supervised your project or has directly observed the results of your project. They should be well-acquainted with the work you are submitting for the Prize. Both parts of the application must be submitted online. If internet access is a problem, please contact us at 1-800-742-1036 or email pprize@princeton.edu and we will arrange for an alternative solution.
