Introduction
The Gerber Foundation awards competitive, merit-based scholarships to graduating seniors from selected high schools serving Newaygo, Muskegon, and Oceana counties in West Michigan.
Who is eligible
- Applicants must be U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents and intend to enroll in a college, university, or other post-secondary program located in the United States.
- Foreign exchange students are not eligible.
- Students planning to attend any of the four U.S. military or maritime academies are not eligible.

How to apply
1. Read the eligibility criteria carefully before beginning an application.
2. Click the Apply Online button to open the Foundation’s web application system and start your submission.
3. When you register, choose the high school you are graduating from — or select NCCTC if you are applying for a Career‑Tech scholarship. This selection allows your school counselor or NCCTC staff to enter your academic information. Inform your counselor once you’ve started the application so they can provide the needed records.
4. You can return to the application/login page at any time by using the Apply Online button.
5. Complete and submit every portion of your application, including the letter of recommendation, by the deadline: February 28 at 4:00 PM ET.
Required materials
Every application must include:
- A student personal statement made up of four short-answer responses. (Click here to see the four questions.)
- One letter of recommendation.
- Academic information submitted by your high school or the Newaygo County Career Tech Center (NCCTC).
