JBL Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by John B. Lynch Scholarship Trust
Introductory statement
Because our available funding is limited and demand for assistance is growing, we focus on supporting undergraduate students who demonstrate strong academic performance and have financial need. Awards are granted primarily on the basis of academic merit; however, when funds are scarce and there are more qualified applicants than awards, financial need will be considered in the selection process.
Geographic eligibility
New applicants must meet one of the following geographic conditions during the application period:
- Be graduating from a Delaware high school, regardless of their permanent residence.
- Be currently enrolled at a college located in Delaware, regardless of permanent residence.
- Reside in the nearby areas of a neighboring state (Pennsylvania, New Jersey, or Maryland) — defined as living within 20 miles of Delaware’s nearest border — regardless of where they attend high school or college.
Students who are applying to renew a previously awarded scholarship may submit a renewal application even if they no longer reside within the geographic area served at the time of renewal.
Student status
Applicants must be enrolled full time at an accredited institution and pursuing an undergraduate program (2- or 4-year degree), including accredited trade school programs. Scholarships are not available to graduate students.
Age limit
Applicants must be under 30 years of age during the application period; the maximum acceptable age is 29 (i.e., applicants must not have reached age 30 during that period).
Academic standards
- High school seniors applying for an award must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 or an SAT score of at least 1100 at the time of application.
- Current undergraduate applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 to be considered.
