Indiana LICA $2,000 Scholarship — Rules and Requirements
Overview
This scholarship provides awards of $2,000 each to eligible members and their families connected with Indiana LICA. Up to three recipients may be chosen each year. Applicants will be informed of their status by September 1st, and award checks will be issued by September 15th.
Who may apply
- Indiana LICA Regular Members and Junior Members
- Spouses, children, and grandchildren of Indiana LICA Regular or Junior Members
Eligibility and academic status
Applicants must be one of the following:
A. Currently enrolled in a college or university, or
B. A high school senior who is enrolling in a four-year college, technical school, or vocational program in Indiana.
Preference will be given to candidates pursuing degrees in Natural Science, Technology, Business, Teaching, or Engineering. An individual may receive only one award (the same person cannot be awarded more than once).
Award amount and notification
- Amount: $2,000 per award
- Maximum: Up to three winners annually
- Notification: All applicants will be notified of their application status by September 1
- Payment: Winners will receive a $2,000 check by September 15
Application period and submission requirements
- Submission window: January 1 through August 15
- Postmark deadline: Applications must bear a postmark no later than August 15
- Incomplete applications will be excluded from consideration
Award date
Awards are finalized and distributed by the September following the application period.
Selection criteria
In addition to meeting eligibility rules, selection emphasizes:
- Demonstrated progress toward vocational and personal goals
- A personal philosophy and character consistent with INLICA’s objectives
Required documentation
A complete application must include all requested personal information and the following attachments:
- Copy of birth certificate
- Official transcripts of completed high school or college coursework
- An essay of 300 words or fewer
