Babe Ruth League Scholarships

Introduction
Recognizing that college expenses place a heavy burden on many families, Babe Ruth League launched a College Scholarship program in 2001 to help former participants of Cal Ripken Baseball, Babe Ruth Baseball, and Babe Ruth Softball pursue education beyond high school.
Funding
Support for the Babe Ruth League College Scholarship comes from the annual Babe Ruth League Alumni Golf Outing and contributions from league partners K&K Insurance and Rawlings Sporting Goods.
Eligibility
To be considered for a Babe Ruth League College Scholarship, applicants must meet all of the following:
- Have played in Cal Ripken Baseball, Babe Ruth Baseball, or Babe Ruth Softball at any point between the ages of 4 and 18.
- Be a U.S. citizen or a lawful permanent resident.
- Be a high school senior or already enrolled in college when applying.
- Be enrolled (or planning to enroll) at an accredited two-year or four-year college or university.
Application requirements and deadline
Applications must be received by June 30 each year and include:
- A completed scholarship application submitted to Babe Ruth League.
- An official high school transcript.
- A 200-word essay.
- Verification of registration at an accredited two-year or four-year college or university.
If proof of college enrollment is not available when you submit your application but you are chosen for an award, you must provide enrollment verification before a scholarship check will be issued. Acceptable forms of verification include a tuition bill or a semester class schedule.
Selection and award terms
Scholarships are awarded based on high school academic performance, extracurricular and participating activities, community involvement, and the content of the essay. Awards are one-time grants and cannot be combined with any other Babe Ruth League-sponsored scholarship. Receiving a Babe Ruth League College Scholarship is not contingent upon participation in collegiate athletics.
Ineligible applicants
Babe Ruth League employees and their immediate family members are not eligible for any Babe Ruth League-sponsored scholarship.
