Cabrillo Civic Clubs of California Scholarship

Introduction
Applications are accepted for scholarships administered by the State Scholarship Committee. Completed applications must be delivered to the office of the Chairperson of the State Scholarship Committee between January 1 and March 15 of the application year. All applications must be postmarked by March 15.
Important: Incomplete applications or those missing required documentation will be disqualified and not considered.
Eligibility Requirements
- Portuguese ancestry and status as a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.
- A minimum 3.50 total weighted GPA for grades 9–12, and must be a graduating senior from a California high school. An official high school transcript is required.
- Must satisfy the entrance requirements of the accredited community college, college, trade school, or university the applicant intends to attend.
- Participation in at least three (3) extracurricular activities while in high school.
- One (1) letter of recommendation from the applicant’s current high school Principal, Dean, Counselor, or Teacher. The recommender should address the applicant’s academic standing, character, personality, and extracurricular involvement.
- Completion of the Undergraduate Scholarship Application in full, including the required essay.
Selection Criteria
Scholarships are awarded competitively. Reviewers will consider: GPA, leadership, extracurricular involvement, work experience (paid or volunteer), demonstrated promise, and membership in Cabrillo Civic Clubs. The purpose of the fund is to assist students of Portuguese descent who intend to pursue higher education.
Award Details
Scholarships of $500.00 each will be paid to recipients after verification of enrollment in an accredited community college, college, trade school, or university.
Notification
All applicants will be informed of their application status by June 30. Successful applicants will receive instructions on how to claim their scholarship.
Scope
This scholarship is available to applicants seeking admission to any accredited community college, college, trade school, or university within the United States.
